Covid update – Lockdown 2

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” Victor Frankl

I’m sure you’re all very much aware of the latest government rules to stay indoors from midnight on Wednesday.

Firstly I’d invite you all to take a deep comfortable breath, and then another one and then one more ... The simple act of noticing and feeling our breath can help calm and soothe our nervous system & boost our immune functioning, something we all need at this time!

For some people, the lockdown will be devastating - on many levels - but could you consider the possibility of embracing this period as a gift of time?
Settling down into this second lockdown, can give us time to slow down and turn inward for some reflection. To help us break the habits of our busy ‘hamster-wheel’ life. What can you let go of?

Winter is generally the time when the animal kingdom does just that! Human busy beings in our time poor lives have got really out of touch with the balance and connection to the natural world. We have forgotten that we are part of that world, not part of the hustle and bustle of deadlines & city life.
So although the lockdown is a huge inconvenience, the only thing we truly have control over is how we respond to any given situation.
“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
Victor Frankl

So this is just a gentle reminder that there is another way to respond and react to this time. Please know I am not being glib or dismissing anyone’s difficult experiences, it certainly is very challenging and heartbreaking to many people.

Think of some things you’d like to learn, a dormant hobby or instrument or language?!?
Declutter that cupboard you’ve been meaning to sort. Recipes you’ve been meaning to try. Holey Socks that are waiting patiently (I darned mine the other day for the first time in about 30 years!)

Giving & serving others is such a win win ‘bucket filling’ exercise. Shopping for a neighbour or making them a pot of soup, brings joy to others & makes us feel warm & connected. The brain gets a good hit of feel good chemicals
when we practice kindlyness & feel connected as a community.

So in OUR Pilates community, what can we do? Well we can connect online again! Most of you have continued with the zoom classes, so there will be little change there.
But any others ... I welcome you back wholeheartedly.

Please remember you do not have to have an Oov. A soft ball or two spiky balls or indeed even a pillow and a couple of tins of beans will suffice for a home gym.

I will be keeping the zoom timetable as it is but I will be adding some extra bits and bobs.
Eg: A pelvic floor workshop, meditation/relaxations etc I’m open to requests of classes/workshops:- different times & topics so do email me!

Monday:- 9.30am Oov Pilates Matwork with Kath
7.30pm Somatics with Ian
Tuesday:- 9.30am -somatic based mindful movement with Kath
Wednesday:- 9.30am mat with Gaynor

Please keep an eye on your newsletters as this is the easiest way for me to communicate with you.

Sending a huge amount of love, kindlyness and respect to all of you, and as ever my humble gratitude for your continued loyalty and support through this uncertain & challenging time.
Signing up for the online classes will support my family, my staff and my business!

Stay safe & well 💗Kath
