Come and join us for a soothing and nurturing class. In this time of great anxiety and uncertainty, our nervous systems are on 'full on' protection mode. This loads the system with stress hormones such as cortisol, and keeps us in a state of permanent arousal, some might know this as fight, flight, freeze. You may have already noticed that its quite hard to fall asleep or that you're having loads of vivid and crazy dreams!
How lovely would it be, to be so relaxed, that your body drifts off into a lovely, natural state of deep nurturing peace.
The class will be 45 minutes of small focused movements, breath work, release suggestions and heart based mindfulness ideas to help your nervous system feel safe and nurtured ready for sleep.
The class will start after the 8-9pm Oov class, it is not necessary to attend this beforehand, but it would be beneficial, to work your body first to help the muscular/fascial system relax, which will help support the mind and nervous system to let go more quickly.
The class will now be on Zoom not MBO, as when we tested the software, we had some technical hitches.
So the zoom password and ID is the same as usual.
Please do sign into MBO anyway as I'll know to expect you. Also you'll get the reminder email and link to click directly to Zoom!
Don't come before 9 if you are not at the previous class as the other class will just be finishing and it can be disturbing having people arriving as people are winding down, or if you do enter have your audio muted. Thank you!
We are making a timetable change next week, some of you asked for a more restorative and release based mat class. So we are changing the Friday morning to have a Restorative mat class at 10.30am. This will be a slower paced class, allowing for more focused awareness of our mind/body system, combining elements of breath, embodiment & somatic based Pilates movements.
You will be able to do this on the Oov or on the mat. Sometimes on a chair or do ask to borrow a roller as we have many in the studio. You can borrow this free of charge. If there is someone else in your household/friend/neighbour that would like to join in, or if you don't have a Oov and would just like something to add variety to your workout.

We now have a closed facebook group, this is only for our Headingley Pilates community. I will be posting short little videos on various topics and things that you can do thourhgout your day. Remember 'movement is medicine' so keep up the good work between classes. I respectfully ask you not to share the videos as they are for the benefit of those who are in our Headingley Pilates Community, and my gift to you. I want a way to offer you extra support, help and to thank you for your amazing loyalty while the studio is closed. There is very little Government support, and while my landlord has temporarily paused my rent, the other bills continue to come in. You turning up for class makes the difference between being able to continue teaching and having to close down completely.
