Important Studio News
Dear Friends and Pilates lovers,
This is a very difficult & personal letter to write to you so please bear with me and read to the end.
As most of you know my gorgeous lovely son has Autism & ADHD, this makes him extra wonderful but it comes with a host of extra challenges & daily life for us both is greatly impacted by the associated symptoms and behaviours. His anxiety about going to school has become all consuming & unmanageable.
I have been searching for alternative schooling options for some time. Sadly there are not many for the thousands of other kids like my son.
Since lockdown the massive rise in costs of running a studio has also become so difficult. As you can imagine I do not have the capacity to work any more hours than I do, So cannot commit to the hours necessary to pay for the increasing costs of running a studio.
After 6 amazing years the lease on our lovely studio is due for renewal & financially I cannot continue here, so I’ve made the decision that our last day here will be 30th September 2022.
As a solo parent it’s more important than ever to get my work and home life rebalanced. Lockdown has shown me that I need to make changes to how I live my life. Rushing everywhere and meeting everyone else’s needs & ignoring my own is not sustainable. It is hypocritical of me to preach to you all about prioritising your health and well being, when I am exhausted & running on empty.
After a thorough search on other venues around Headingley, and global rising costs, i have been unsuccessful in finding an alternative studio. So I have had an agonising dilemma, desperate to make life easier for my son & myself, whilst continuing doing what I love to do … supporting & teaching healthy movement for all you beautiful, lovely folk. How to find that illusive balance?
Well the silver lining of Lockdown, has shown us that it is possible to continue online, serving you all with your regular dose of movement, exercise & release in a different way.
So the big news … we are all moving together back online, and the biggest news …Archie & I are moving to the west coast of Scotland, by the wild Atlantic Ocean.
So where does that leave you?
As I said lockdown has shown us that we can successfully keep going, many of you have said how it helped you through some difficult times during the pandemic. It will continue to get you through some happy good times as well.
I totally understand that some of you want to have your weekly reformer Pilates fix….. I am still looking out for a smaller space that Barry can continue to do some smaller reformer classes, gyms, 121s for you all.

Online zoom classes – Oov, mat work, somatic movement, reformer classes (please see below for more info)
Our online library of over 120 classes with new ones added regularly
Online workshops monthly live workshops on zoom, various different body parts and topics including the Franklin method
Reformer classes
A small group may buy or loan a reformer from me (or chair/trapeze table) If you have space at home. This will form part of a bespoke weekly package eg:
one-to-one & class membership.

Buying your own forever Reformer - now might be a good time for you to invest in your own home reformer. The company I use has developed a new professional home reformer that looks very impressive, it’s sturdy but still collapsible & easy to store away in a small space. I am happy to pass on my discount so please do get in touch if you might be interested. They hold their value so if you decide in a few years you don’t want one after all I’m sure there will be a long list of people happy to buy it from you!
Face to Face
Every 6 weeks
I will be back in Leeds to do 121s, treatments- Hendrickson Myo Fascial Release, workshops and hopefully some retreats local to Leeds.
We are still searching for a smaller part time Leeds studio space for some small reformer classes & gyms. Taught by our current teachers. Please get in touch if you know of anywhere that might share their space with us.

Future Plans
Retreats by the sea in Scotland -
This will be my new project .. hosting you all in our stunningly beautiful new home. Huge skies, incredible views, sunsets, seafood, cosy cabins to rewild, recharge & become your best self.
Ron Mara our new home is on the Kintyre Peninsula
Come & join us for so many and varied activities from walking, wild swimming, kayak safaris, boat trips to spot dolphins, snorkelling in the many underwater special areas of conservation, cycling round small islands, oh and of course Pilates, yoga, meditation, massage, writing, coaching, painting etc
I will run my own retreats and host other practitioners and run holiday lets in between. Keep your eye on our progress in future newsletters.
My wish is to share our new beautiful home with you, to continue to hold a safe, inclusive, nourishing, inspiring place for you eat well, sleep soundly and move your body to rebalance recharge & feel amazing. Please come it is such an incredible place, I would love to share it with you!
I want you to know that it has not been an easy decision. Headingley Pilates, before then Leeds Pilates place, before then Kath Pilates Leeds have occupied my brain, my heart and my soul for nearly 20 years.
It has become a source of intense passion, privilege and pride to have been able to teach and support all of you lovely folk. Some of you have been with me for all of my Pilates life and I truly speak from the heart, when I say you are like my family and I deeply care for each and everyone of you. I deeply hope that you will stay connected with me & continue to come together online & face to face … or I shall miss you all too much!
Finally I want to send you all my deepest and warmest gratitude for your loyalty your hard work and dedication, sharing your insights, your secrets and your warmth & laughter for the last 20 years. You are all perfectly beautifully imperfect and I love you for that.
